Work & City Research Lab
An important strand of the Work & City research lab involves building future scenarios of use though modelmaking, sketching and filmmaking. A creative approach enables fictional characters and identified typologies to inhabit a new landscape of work and explore emerging ideas and possibilities. Projects of this type have been pioneered in partnership with Steelcase and IDEO, and subjects have ranged from privacy at work and temporary team environments to the multi-generational workplace.
A future scenario study with Colebrook Bosson Saunders was set in 2012, creating an imaginary work village called Little Brinkland against a background of climate change, population ageing and emerging technologies. In 2009, a study with Bene created character types for knowledge workers.
