Awards were given in relation to each of the Helen Hamlyn Centre's three main research themes - inclusive design, workplace design and design for patient safety. There was also a special prize for creativity given personally by Helen Hamlyn.

Judging took place on Friday 26 June 2009 and the Awards presentation was held in the Senior Common Room at the Royal College of Art at 4.30pm on Tuesday 30 June 2009, as the opening event of the College's Innovation Night.
