The British Embassy's Creative Industries award was presented by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado to the Helen Hamlyn Centre's project partners from Kyoto University Museum and Kyoto University of Art at a ceremony held at the British Embassy in Tokyo on 5 March.
The award will fund the Kyoto Inclusive Design Summer Workshop 2009, to be held 30 July - 1 August 2009.
Senior Research Fellow Julia Cassim will work with teams of young Japanese designers from three universities. RCA tutors from Design Products, Communication, Textiles and Innovation Design Engineering will lead the teams. The results will be shown at a public event on the final day and exhibited at Kyoto University Museum.
The project partners are Kyoto University, Kyoto University of Art and Design and Kyushu University.
