Tenth anniversary party

Generously hosted by the Centre's patron Helen Hamlyn, the tenth anniversary event was addressed by outgoing Rector Professor Sir Christopher Frayling, who said that the Centre's work had been one of the landmarks of his Rectorship at the RCA.

All guests received a boxed set of special-edition postcards designed by Frank Phillipin, the first ever Helen Hamlyn Research Associate in Communication Art & Design.

Guests included Chris Smith, who, as Culture Secretary in the first Blair Labour Government had formally launched the Helen Hamlyn Centre at the Royal College of Art in January 2009.

The tenth anniversary party was held in one of the most important modernist houses in Britain, designed by Mendelsohn and Chermeyeff in 1936.
