Research Associates at midway point
The Work In Progress seminar and supper for industry partners featured presentations of 11 collaborative projects grouped in three themes - inclusive design, workplace design and design for patient safety.

These projects are being undertaken by graduates from five RCA departments, Architecture, Communication Art & Design, Design Products, Innovation Design Engineering and Vehicle Design.

Guest speaker at the event was Claire Fox, Director of the Institute of Ideas and a regular panelist on BBC Radio 4's The Moral Maze and BBC Question Time. Fox challenged the research associates and their partners to question conventional wisdom on social issues such as population ageing or climate change, which are often portrayed in a negative way when there are real opportunities for innovation.

Claire Fox has worked closely with the RCA Helen Hamlyn Centre on the Battle of Ideas, a weekend super-debate event, which takes place every autumn at the Royal College of Art. The Battle of Ideas 2010 takes place at the RCA on 30-31 October
