Workshops reach out to schools
Students aged 14 -17 from three local London state schools participated in The Problem Comes First workshops, organised by ReachOut RCA.
These workshops were held in September 2011 during the exhibition's run in the Upper Gulbenkian Gallery at the Royal College of Art as part of the London Design Festival.
Alice Malony (RCA Visual Communications) and Julene Aguirre-Bielschowsky (RCA Innovation Design Engineering) led the workshops which took students through the design process, developing their approach to problem solving and communicating their ideas.
Feedback from students and teachers alike from all three of the participating schools was very positive.
The Problem Comes First exhibition and accompanying education programme is sponsored by the European Union Representation in the UK, through its co-funding of cultural activities.
The next phase of the EU sponsorship will see the health projects from The Problem Comes First exhibition visit the Pontio Innovation Centre at Bangor University, North Wales, in March 2012.
