Tackling Ageing Continence through Theory Tools and Technology
TACT3 is collaboration between Brunel University, The University of Sheffield, University of the West of England, Bristol Urological Institute, The University of Manchester, SmartLife Technology Ltd, Dalarna Research Institute and the Royal College Art Helen Hamlyn Centre. The research will focus on improving continence interventions and services, developing assistive devices for continence management and challenging the environmental barriers that prevent people with continence difficulties from being away from home.
The project comprises of four research work packages focusing on; the Built Environment, Health Service Provision and Assistive Technology, with a core and overarching Knowledge Transfer and Project Management work package, whose aim is to ensure the involvement of older people in all aspects of the research.

The research is funded by the New Dynamics of Ageing programme, a cross council funding initiative, administered by the Economic and Social Research Council.

The RCA Helen Hamlyn Centre is co-ordinating the Built Environment work package which focuses on the provision and design of toilet facilities used when away from home.
