organised by Estonian Association of Designers
The event
In September 2010, Julia Cassim ran a workshop in Tallinn for three groups of Estonian designers. The workshop was led by graphic designers, Kristjan Mändmaa and Hannes Seeburg as part of the ongoing Cities for All - Tallinn for All.Mobility project organised by Estonian Association of Designers.
Since the time of the workshop, the three groups of designers have refined their proposals in collaboration with Chamber of the Disabled People and the Tallinn Transport Department, in particular the Tallinn Bus Company, the main provider of public transport in the city. Their proposals were presented to delegates at the international Cities Cities for All - Tallinn for All.Mobility conference.
The results
Two of the groups focussed on aspects of bus travel. The first redesigned the bus stop environment in spatial and visual terms as well as revamping its information system. The second group tackled on board graphics systems while the third created a system to improve work mobility for young cash-strapped entrepreneurs in this city, the home of Skype, where such a high value is placed on internet-driven innovation.
Representatives from the Tallinn Bus Company have embraced the ideas and will continue to work to implement them with the first two groups.
