This web-based resource was created by the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design to share ways to design with people. It is one of the outputs from i~design 3 and designed to work in conjunction with the Inclusive Design Toolkit developed by project partner, the Engineering Design Centre at Cambridge University.

The Design Council

The Center for Universal Design
A research, information, and technical assistance centre based at the University of North Carolina, USA. It evaluates, develops, and promotes universal design in a range of areas.
Adaptive Environments
Adaptive Environments, based in the USA, promotes accessibility as well as universal design through education programs, technical assistance, training, consulting, publications and design advocacy.
Design Engine
Design web site packed with news, articles, historical information and a wide range of resources including tutorials.
How Stuff Works
Detailed information on how anything works, from car engines, to sunglasses to magnets. Good search facility and clear explanations.
Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access (IDeA)
The IDeA Center, located at the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, practices human centered design through research, development, service, dissemination and educational activities.
Intute
Gateway to subject catalogues with links to high quality Internet sites, including Internet training, selected and described by specialists from within British academia.

Atcare
ATcare is a not for profit organisation that helps to develop promising ideas in assistive technologies and deliver them to market. ATcare's objectives are to improve the range, quality and functionality of assistive technology products.

Royal National Institute for the Deaf
RNID is the largest charity representing the nine million deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK. They aim to achieve a radically better quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing people.
Royal National Institute for the Blind
The UK’s leading charity offering information, support and advice to over two million people with sight problems. They provide information and guidelines to help designers consider the needs of people with common visual impairments.
John Grooms
Founded in 1866, John Grooms is a leading UK provider of services for people with disabilities. It works with disabled people to improve quality of life choice and freedom but also to ensure that people are able to live as independently as possible.
Scope
Scope is an organisation working in England and Wales whose focus is people with cerebral palsy. Their site has an excellent FAQ and information section.

Simple and practical information on access solutions, facilities and equipment that can be used when designing for people with disablilities.

A huge list of website resources concerning ageing and gerontology. A small description of each link allows easy selection of what you want. Is a little biased towards US and Canadian sites, but contains some useful facts and information.
