Work & City Research Lab

Projects

To address the design of better workplaces and public spaces for tomorrow's diverse and demanding urban populations, the Work & City Lab groups its projects under four themes.

Work-Life looks at design strategies and innovations that explore the balance or blend between working and living. Home working is a key area for study here, as is flexible and mobile working.

Workspace examines ways in which work environments can be improved and enhanced to meet the needs of people. Projects range from the scale of furniture and products to the urban plan.

Urban Infrastructure looks at the city in terms of the core services and infrastructures that create the urban fabric in which we live and work. Issues of mobility, density, access and regeneration are considered under this theme.

Digital Communities studies the impact of digital technology on urban communities, examining the connections and conflicts between the physical and the virtual realms.
