Mouse About the House

Designer: Alberto Martinez

Department: Design Products

First prize in the Work category

This project sets out to design a language or system that will allow us to blur the borders between workspace and the home. It explores a shift in virtual working from the computer desktop to the home environment. And it does so literally, via the idea of taking the computer mouse cursor out of the screen and into the room, using its properties to explore different interactions between people, objects and the domestic environment. The inspiration for the project was a basic concern to maintain a focus on a person-object relationship so that well-being is enhanced and the user does not feel manipulated by
designed objects.
