swimbuoy

A sports product designed for children or people with spinal disabilities providing support during swimming or floating in the pool. It enables the user to swim on their front or back and relax in a comfortable position. For those with spinal injuries who use a wheelchair, it offers freedom and confidence in the water and a great opportunity for a cardio-vascular workout.

Lord Snowdon commented: 'A great deal of thought has gone into this project which faces up directly to the physical problems of disabled people as well as addressing human dignity.'

This project also won first prize in the Ability category of the Design for our Future Selves awards.
