DesignAge was founded by the Helen Hamlyn Foundation as a stand-alone action-research programme at the Royal College of Art. Launched in 1991 with the intention of alerting industry and the design profession to the far-reaching implications of changes in the age profile of populations across Europe and the developed world, it has changed the way people think about this issue worldwide. DesignAge is now a key element in the new Helen Hamlyn Research Centre which builds on its success and reputation. DesignAge has been recognised nationally, with a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education, and internationally, with a Ron Mace Memorial 'Designing for the 21st Century' award. |
