Mobility Choice Award for Independent Mobility

Prize Winner

Komal Vora, Rachel Tomlinson, Michael Korn: Industrial design Engineering and Helen Wilde: Fashion Womenswear
hera.miko

Judges’ comment:

‘An aspirational item with large potential application across different generic types of footwear, which will go a long way to increasing independence and choice of footwear for significant numbers of older and disabled people. The simplicity of the idea makes it technically and economically feasible.”

Highly commended

Yuko Kanemuro: Printed Textiles
Tac-tile

Judges’ comment:

“Supports independent mobility for visually impaired people. A deeper level of wayfinding embedded beyond the purely tactile and an aesthetically pleasing solution proposed.”
