Dr Atsue Takeoka joined the Helen Hamlyn Centre at the RCA for nine months, from autumn 2006 to summer 2007, from the User Science Institute at Kyushu University in Japan.
Dr Takeoka originally studied management and began her career as a systems engineer. But she found a lot of systems were user-unfriendly so she undertook her Doctoral study in the area of knowledge science, analysing human-system interaction grounded in psycho-linguistic or cognitive theory.
While at the RCA, studied the use of research design tools and modes of communication in the inclusive design process.
